There are a
number of Traffic Violations that may be charged as a Felony
Crime. Additionally, certain misdemeanor traffic violations may
be a charged as a felony if the violation is a repeat offense,
or is a similar misdemeanor traffic violation within a specified period of
time.
Felony
criminal charges
are crimes which are of a more serious nature than that of a
misdemeanor crime. Accordingly, the fines, penalties, and impact
that a felony conviction have upon your life are significantly
greater than that of a misdemeanor conviction.
It is important to note that individuals who are
convicted of a felony crime, in addition to the
fines and penalties which may be imposed, may also
be subjected to hardships such as being prohibited
from employment in occupations involving the
handling of money or valuables. A felony
conviction may also be a significant
stumbling block if you later decide to pursue
a professional discipline field of employment, such
as medicine, nursing, teaching, real estate,
financial services, or practicing law.
In the State of Ohio, their are 5 degrees of a
felony charge, which include:
Felony of the first degree, the
prison term shall be 3 - 10 years,
$20,000 Fine.
Felony of the second degree, the
prison term shall be 2 - 8 years,
$15,000 Fine.
Felony of the third degree, the
prison term shall be 1 - 5 years,
$10,000 Fine.
Felony of the fourth degree, the
prison term shall be 6 - 18 months,
$5,000 Fine.
Felony of the fifth degree, the
prison term shall be 6 - 12 months,
$2,500 Fine.
If you are already licensed in a particular
discipline profession, a felony conviction
could result in a review of your "character and
fitness", jeopardizing your ability to continue to
work in that field.
Depending upon the circumstances and evidence
against you, we may be able to get the felony
charges dropped, reduced, negotiate on your
behalf for a diversion program, or probation instead
of jail time. Of course our primary goal is to get
your felony charges dropped, and
protect your freedom.
In addition to the standard fines and penalties
awarded for a felony conviction,
depending upon the felony crime you
are convicted of, and the circumstances of the
offense, you may also be subjected to:
Suspension of your driving privileges;
Attend mandatory anger management classes;
Having your license revoked;
Potential vehicle forfeiture;
Community service;
Lengthy terms of probation;
Forfeiture of property or assets;
Forfeiture of certain basic civil rights.
